Wait, who just said that? Mom, stop speaking in my voice!

So, why the title of this blog.  Everyday is seems that I am not only getting older, but also more like my mother.  From the way I look to the things I say - I am becoming her.  It bothered me at first, this transformation into another phase of life but I guess like most things, you just get used to it.

What is really funny about it is that we are so WAY different that it seems impossible that I am becoming her!  She is organized, ordered, neat and tidy.  Well that skipped a generation!  She has the attention span that allows her to get things done.  Oh, shiny object!  I skip from one idea to the next at the blink of an eye.  (What was I saying?)  She is a total A type personality whereas I am a big B!  I think you are getting the picture.

A recent example:
The Old Home Association Picnic - Mom is the President of the Association and has been for years.  Me, yeah, don't want that responsibility!  What I do love up there though, in that very old one-room schoolhouse, is boiling the water and washing up the silverware in an old metal dish pan.  I'm pretty sure that we have been using that same bottle of thickened green dish soap for as many years as I have been washing! We use paper plates, but real silverware.  I enjoy the company of the person who dries as we catch up on a year's worth of news.  Many of these people I have only seen once a year for almost every year of my life.
This year my Aunt, the middle sister, wanted to wash up with me and asked if she could wash (my job!) while I dried.  Well the me that is still me and B-type thinks, "That's okay with me"  But the me that is my mother has to add, "Well, as long as you do it right the first time."  Did I just say that?!  We both looked at each other  and started to laugh.  "That's exactly what my sister would have said to me!" my aunt chuckles.  "I know!" I replied.
